Roberto Accini

Biochemist, Senior Scientist, Solongevity coFounder and Board Member

Ever since I started doing research in the 1970s, I have focused on the prevention and early diagnosis of chronic diseases, which have remained the main objectives of my entire research career. My work has long been concerned with clinical protocols for the use of nutraceuticals in asymptomatic people for preventive purposes. It is a fascinating field of biomedical research that is experimenting with a new philosophy: to use as nutrients the physiological precursors of key metabolic molecules, thus stimulating the natural endogenous biosynthesis of molecules that are often not bioavailable.

In this scenario, SoLongevity is an agile and young reality, which makes use of a Scientific Committee of great experience and collaborations with CNR, universities and IRCCS that allow the implementation, not simple, of clinical protocols approved by ethical committees. This is an indispensable condition. For all these reasons, SoLongevity is the ideal place where data and experiences can flow together: where everyone’s scientific contribution becomes the patrimony of many people and is concretized in a longer and better life expectancy.

Roberto Accini is Senior Scientist, Founding Member and member of the Board of Directors of SoLongevity. During his scientific career he has been Head of the Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry at the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the CNR (IFC-CNR) in Milan and Adjunct Professor at the University of Ferrara. He has collaborated with several hospitals and universities and with the Ministry of Health, participating in projects on the cardiovascular system and clinical immunology. Part of his research and teaching activity has concerned the study of oxidative stress, homeostasis of the human organism through food supplementation (nutraceuticals) and endogenous metabolic precursor metabolic metabolic metabolites, and methods to evaluate the achievement of balance and its optimization intra- and extra-cellular. He has developed and validated some sensitive, specific and reliable analytical methods such as Radio Immuno Assay (RIA) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). He is author of over 50 articles published in international scientific journals and of reports and posters presented at 150 national and international scientific congresses.
